Exploring Young Adults' Contraceptive Knowledge and Attitudes: Disparities by Race/Ethnicity and Age,The analysis showed lower contraceptive knowledge among teenagers and Hispanics, particularly immigrants, suggesting the importance of providing family planning information and resources to these populations as one means to address disparities in unintended pregnancy.

Social Disparities in the Receipt of Contraceptive Services Among Sexually Experienced Adolescent Females, The findings revealed no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic disparities in adolescent females' receipt of contraceptive services. In contrast, adolescent females who had a mother with less than a high school degree were more likely to have received services than those adolescents who had a mother with a college degree or more.

Women with anticipated pain scores above the median had significantly higher perceived pain during all timepoints of the IUD insertion procedure.

HPV Vaccination

Racial and Ethnic Differences in HPV Knowledge, Attitudes, and Vaccination Rates among Low-income African-American, Haitian, Latina, and Caucasian Young Adult Women, Of 132 participants, 116 (90%) stated that they were somewhat or very likely to accept HPV vaccination if offered by their physician, but only 51% initiated the vaccination over the next 5 years.

Race, Ethnicity, and Income Factors Impacting Human Papillomavirus Vaccination rates, Low-income and minority adolescents are equally or more likely to start the HPV vaccination series than are white and higher-income adolescents but are less likely to complete all 3 shots. Provider recommendation is a key factor in HPV vaccination, and minorities are less likely to report receiving recommendations for HPV vaccination.

Approaching a decade since HPV vaccine licensure: Racial and gender disparities in knowledge and awareness of HPV and HPV vaccine, National Trends Survey. Non-Hispanic Blacks were 33% and 44% less likely than non-Hispanic Whites to have heard of HPV and the HPV vaccine, respectively. Hispanics were 27% and 53% less likely than non-Hispanic Whites to have heard of HPV and the HPV vaccine, respectively.

Reflections of Native American Teen Mothers, This study used semi-structured interviews of 30 self-identified Native American adult women to explore their early childbearing experiences. A main theme that arose was the presence of chaotic childhoods for participants.

Reducing Disparities in Adolescent Pregnancy Among US Tribal Youths, This study describes interviews with participants from six Tribal Personal Responsibility Education Programs (Tribal PREP). These programs were adopted by 14 tribes and tribal organizations with the goal of providing American Indian and Alaska Native adolescents with culturally relevant, evidence-informed contraceptive and abstinence education curricula.

These results suggest that racial and ethnic disparities, independent of SES, exist in selected areas of adolescent health care.
